Important Gross Motor Milestones of Development of Child (0 to 12 months)
|The skills required to control the large muscles of the body in order to walk, run, sit, crawl and do other motor activities are called the gross motor milestones of development. The most critical period for the development of fundamental motor skills is infancy (0 to 12 months).
2 months – Can hold head up when lying on tummy.
4 months – Holds head steady, unsupported.
– Starts rolling over from tummy to back.
6 months – Can roll over front to back and also from back to front.
– Can sit with support.
8 months – Can sit without support.
9 months – Crawls.
– Stands holding on.
1 year – Can walk holding on to furniture.
– May start walking – a few steps – without holding on to furniture.

If there is delay in any of these motor milestones of development, Early Parent Mediated Developmental Interventions should be started immediately, to prevent developmental delay.
Developmental Delay can have long lasting negative impact in the child’s life.
Experts in Child Guidance & developmental pediatrics can guide the parents for scientific early developmental interventions to improve the gross motor milestones of development of the child.
